About

Peascod is a creative studio, combining decades of experience in designing and making groundbreaking applied art pieces found in hotels, yachts and private homes around the world.

Produced exclusively by hand in their Somerset studios, each piece is informed by their West Country location; be that the flora and fauna indigenous to these isles, the ancient traces of human activity on the landscape, rich folkloric tradition, or perhaps simply a colour or texture found furnishing a riverbank.

The unique combination of skills that they bring to each project – from Tobias’ sculptural dexterity to Emma’s experimental research of the traditional verre églomisé process of reverse glass gilding – result in one-off statement pieces for the home, imbued with an understanding of storytelling that surprise and delight.

Their work explores various aspects of light and form, embracing the playfully illusive alongside hints of darker imagery. They are drawn to the crepuscular atmosphere of the twilight hours, and how the woodland floor is teeming with both life and decay. This is echoed in the objects they produce: the shifting, mercurial nature of the reflectors that Emma specialises in adds atmosphere and depth to Tobias’ asymmetric, sculptural designs.

The result is their distinctly contemporary take on the British Rococo–a style rooted in the natural world and infused with drama. Vital and captivating, their designs are luxurious, balancing richness with a refined lightness of touch. Each piece reveals a special kind of alchemy; atmospheric and full of detail, they capture fleeting glimpses of the landscape, allowing the interplay of light and form to bring them to life the more it is explored.

Emma Peascod

Emma Peascod is internationally recognised for her pioneering, sumptuous gilded designs. Combining Japanese aesthetics with a love of atmospheric textures and materials, her designs draw inspiration from the traditional verre églomisé process of reverse glass gilding.

Having graduated in Fine Art at Central Saint Martin’s in London, Emma spent a period in Japan learning traditional craft techniques such as sumi-e (Japanese ink painting) and the foundations of washi paper-making with some of the country’s master craftspeople. Emma’s experiences with these intricate processes and her diverse cultural background have been formative in developing her distinct aesthetic identity.

Tobias Peascod

Tobias Peascod is a renowned maker with over 25 years’ experience as a sculptor. Alongside working with fine artists, set designers and interior designers of international standing, he has earned global recognition for his own work. His pieces range from the miniature to the monumental, drawing influence from the natural world.

Inspired by the work of master sculptors Grinling Gibbons and Alfred Gilbert, Tobias excels in combining cutting edge technologies with age-old techniques. Each piece is approached with precise observation and an acute interest in the minutiae of the subject matter, manipulating the material with a delicacy and lightness of touch. His work is characterised by a sense of drama and ambition, but ultimately he is motivated by the desire to find compositional balance through asymmetrical designs.
