Goddard Littlefair asked Peascod to collaborate on creating bespoke glazing and mirrors for the Guerlain Spa at Raffles London at The OWO. Tasked with creating dividing screens that would allow light to radiate whilst maintaining privacy, offered us the opportunity to make an ambitious large-scale work.
The aesthetic and practical design requirements led to an exploration and development at the cutting edge of glass processing technology. Emma initially worked up the ocean wave motifs through studio produced traditional brush paintings. These were then transposed to the glass using contemporary industrial techniques, creating a fine ethereal etched image.
“Goddard Littlefair, was appointed to design the luxurious spa and two dedicated Lifestyle Suites at the highly-anticipated, London OWO Raffles Hotel.
Used as Winston Churchill’s base of operations during WWII, and reportedly the inspiration behind Ian Fleming’s 007, the Old War Office is a grand gentleman of a bygone era. The spa’s design scheme needed to preserve and celebrate the history of the building and its Edwardian and Neo-Baroque architecture and interior features, while balancing a feeling of serenity and timelessness for its latest chapter.”
