Basalt has the appearance of flowing lava of perhaps turbulent waters. Appearing like a  natural and chaotic surface, it is on closer inspection a highly orchestrated and composed design - the pattern of each panel flawlessly flows across the joints from one to the next in all four directions giving a hypnotic and seemingly impossible repeated moment of flux.

Great care has been afforded to the sculpting of this piece to mask any obvious production techniques and to ensure no undercuts making an easy to paint and practical to live with surface.
